David Hasvold

Dave brings operational and hotel ownership expertise that is not very common in the hotel brokerage business. He has the experience to understand the ownership side of the hotel business and has the expertise to assist his clients because he has been in their shoes, where many brokers have not.

He is a Sioux Falls native and currently resides there with his wife, a son and two daughters. He completed his secondary education at South Dakota State University, Brookings, SD with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Commercial Economics.

After graduating from the university, Dave moved to Kansas City where he began his career in the hotel business with ownership in a Best Western. Over the next 12 years, he was a hands-on owner as he managed the day to day operations, including accounting, payroll, scheduling, quality control and performing all renovations necessary to meet all PIP requirements. This experience provided Dave with an extensive understanding of all aspects in the lodging business.

After selling the Best Western, Dave and his family returned home to Sioux Falls. He completed a 1031 exchange into a commercial retail strip center along with an additional NNN property, As a result of these acquisitions, he formed ADL Properties, Inc, where he also serves as President. Dave is hands on with these investments as well, as he manages and maintains the properties. In addition, he negotiates leases with tenants and arranges capital improvements. Dave’s broad knowledge of the commercial real estate business will be a significant benefit to his clients, especially with those more complex hospitality transactions involving leases, tenancy, and leasehold.

Dave began his commercial real estate practice with Bender Commercial Real Estate in Sioux Falls, one of the leading commercial real estate companies in the region. His assignments included leasing and selling commercial investment real estate of various types. During his tenure, Dave also developed a specialty concentration for the market and sale of hospitality properties. This emphasis on hotels resulted in the sale of 10 hotels while working with Bender. With a keen interest in filling a niche and in focusing on hotels only, the transition to a hotel specific company, Leisure Real Estate Advisors, LLC, was a natural move. Leisure Real Estate Advisors is based in Kansas City with offices in the Midwest and exclusively represents owners of hotel real estate.

Dave is a member of the Sioux Falls Chamber of Commerce, Sioux Valley Cycle Club, enjoys golf, motorcycle riding, and jet skiing. He has coached little league softball and flag football.
